Global Objectives:

• Describe the role of the pharmacist in administering LAIs to optimize the treatment of patients with behavioral health conditions and other comorbidities.
• Outline the common dosages, mechanisms of action, pharmacokinetics, adverse events, drug interactions, and warnings/precautions and counseling recommendations for long acting injectables
• Identify the statutory and rule requirements for pharmacists to legally administer long acting injectables.
• Explain appropriate techniques associated with gluteal administration of long acting injectables.  
• Examine physical space requirements and other considerations for administering long acting injectables.  
• Recognize the impact psychosocial factors have on patients with mental health disorders.

Instructions:

To complete the training, begin by clicking on Optimizing the Role of the Pharmacist in LAI Administration-Part 1. View the recording in its entirety. This will unlock and allow advancement to the next recording. Each lesson requires completion of the lesson or assessment prior to advance. Once you have completed ALL the lessons, this will unlock the final evaluation for you to claim and upload your CE credit. 

Troubleshooting Access Issues

• If you cannot click into the first lesson or receive an error message following your initial attempt to access the program:

  Ensure you are logged into the learning center and see the words "My Account" in the top-right. If you see "Log in" instead, log in to your account using the same username and password as your ncpharmacists.org account. Next, click "Programs" in the upper-left corner, locate the package, by name, using the search bar, click "Details" and this should open the program for you to begin your training.

• If you have watched a video and the lock has not come off to allow you into the next section there are a couple things to try:
  

  • When loading a module page, the player will take a couple extra seconds to fully load in, if you hit play before it has fully loaded your credit will not be tracked.
  • Accessing from a managed device or work computer, often times these devices have internet blockers that will prevent the tracking cookie from accurately tracking your completion %(You are required to view 90% of the video before the lock will come off)
  • Watching in separate sessions. While this does not always cause trouble it can sometimes prevent the lock from coming off. Try to watch the video in full across a single session for best results.
  • Leaving the window while the video is playing. If you click off the tab or bring another window into focus it can prevent the system from taking off the lock.
